JXC eNews: WARNING: Scam email pretending to be from Just X-Cart Australia Pty Ltd

We have recently become aware of scammers/hackers utilising our business name for the sending of fake invoices which, if opened, we believe contains a virus/trojan of some sort.

Today we were fortunate to have a recipient of such an email phone us and provide us a screenshot of what they received by email. For privacy reasons I have blacked out the recipients details however I wanted to warn everyone that this is not being sent by us, it is not coming from our server and in fact this particular email is being shown to be sent from a Bigpond email address (but this is most likely fake also).

We will NEVER send you an invoice in Word document format or in any other format eg PDF etc (unless we have made prior arrangement with you). Any invoice we generate to send to clients is electronically generated through our shopping cart and as a result no attachment is generated as the invoice is sent and appears within the body of the email itself. The email will always come from an @justxcart.com.au address also.

Further to this we have no one called Maurice working with us nor is the phone number on the email correct. Its a pretty amateur spam email I have to say!

We strongly recommend that if you get an email with an attachment that is apparently from Just X-Cart Australia, please DO NOT OPEN and DELETE IMMEDIATELY.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you are uncertain of anything.

Until next time, take care.

Kind regards,
Nat
